As of February 1st, 2018, the Secure Sync feature of MoneyWell will no longer connect. This is due to Dropbox switching off their v1 API in favour of a new v2 API. While we have put a good deal of time and effort into investigating the new API and testing it with MoneyWell, we are not able to switch to it at this time. For this reason, we are discontinuing the sync feature until further notice.
Will sync be returning to MoneyWell?
As noted above, we have already put considerable effort into this so it is our hope to bring the feature back at some point using a new sync engine. That being said, there is still quite a bit of work needed to make this stable enough for public consumption. The old sync engine wasn’t as reliable as we’d have liked and we felt the repercussions of that in the support queue (and App Store reviews).
In summary, while we’d like to bring the feature back, we can’t make any promises at this time.
How does this effect the existing apps?
Beyond sync, everything will continue to work as expected in both the Mac and iPad versions. We’ll be releasing updates to officially disable the feature in the near future.
Unfortunately, the current incarnation of MoneyWell Express, our iPhone app, requires sync to function properly. We’ll be removing the app from the iOS App Store in the coming week.
